Question: Could it be true that there are hundreds of different solar systems in the galaxy without us knowing?

  1. Hi Pippaz,

As I’ve said in answer to your other question, we now know of 561 exoplanets (planets outside our solar system). Back in 2006, when I was studying exoplanets at university, we only knew of about 150!

These 561 planets are in 470 different “planetary systems” (that’s what “other solar systems” are called, because “solar” means our sun).

So to answer your question, yes there are bound to be many more planets and systems that we just haven’t found yet!
