There have been a number of catastrophic events in Earth’s 4.5-billion-year history, sometimes with big changes in climate, where many species (sometimes MOST species) of life became extinct.
So people definitely wouldn’t be alone in having big problems when (it IS ‘when’, I’m afraid, not ‘if’) one of these events happens. But unlike other species, people have technology that might just help them survive.
