Hi butterflys,
Cancer Council Australia collects this type of information and if you are interested in knowing more, you can look on their website at http://www.cancer.org.au/aboutcancer/FactsFigures.htm
Here you can see how many people have different cancers and how many of those die from that cancer.
The latest figures are from 2010 that say:
114,000 new cases of cancer were diagnosed
43,000 people died from cancer in 2010.
Interestingly nearly 15,000 more people die from cancer every year but this is mainly due to an ageing population and population growth. Because of medical research, the number of people who die from cancer has fallen by 16%.
Thanks for your question!
