Question: Is australia going to be under the water in the future to come like 100 years later?

    Hi nalizade,

    I suppose you’re referring to the rising sea level caused by global warming (climate change)?

    Climate scientists are not sure how big the rise in sea level will be, but the predictions are for a rise of between about 20cm and 80cm by the year 2100 (see the graph I’ve posted here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ems45/5835279409/in/photostream).

    This is certainly a problem for Australia’s coastal cities and areas, but certainly not enough to submerge the whole country. The problem is, of course, much worse for small island countries in the Pacific.

    David Post (Posty) would know more about these things, if you’re interested: he works on the effect of climate change on water catchments!
