Hi shey24,
I don’t know about babies dying directly because of being exposed to high fat or high sugar diets – but mothers who have a poor diet or are overweight/obese when they become pregnant have a lot higher risk of pregnancy complications that can also affect the baby. Some babies are born very heavy, and have to be delivered by caesarean section and babies who are exposed to too much sugar before they are born have a lot of problem regulating their own blood sugar. There are also more likely to be problems with deliveries in very big women, and this means that the baby is more at risk of death during and after delivery.
Does that answer your question? (please let me know if it doesn’t :-))
