Wow. That’s a really good question! There are a few reasons that spring to mind. One is to forecast the weather days (useful for all of us), weeks (very useful for farmers) or months (very useful for water managers) ahead.
Another reason is to try and understand how the weather (or climate) may change if seomthing different happens. This could be for example if we get more El Nino events (which bring droughts), or it could be due to climate change, or even a meteorite hitting the Earth and disrupting weather patterns.
