No. The iris is like the aperture on a camera. It functions just to control how much light is allowed in to the back of the eye – to the retina.
In dark places, more light is needed in order to see, so the iris gets bigger to allow more light through. Its colour is determined by your genes, but the lens and retina have much more impact on your eyesight.
