Each of the scientists will probably have a different answer to this, but my personal opinion is that the hardest thing in science is the fact that you can work really hard for months and months trying to find an answer to something and at the end, the experiment might not work or the result is not very clear.
So, even if you work really hard you will not necessarily solve the scientific puzzle. Because of this, you have to develop a thick skin and a lot of patience!
