Question: to burst my stomach how much food will i have to eat

  1. Hi bencraven,

I don’t suggest you try this experiment to find out! It’s actually VERY difficult to burst your own stomach by eating too much food. There are many different nerve endings and chemicals within the stomach that communicate to the brain that you have eaten enough food and this stops your appetite so you dont feel like eating any more. If you keep eating, you might start to feel nauseus and you might even vomit – the body’s own way of getting rid of too much of that food!

There is a rare genetic disorder called Prader–Willi syndrome where some genes are missing and these people don’t have the normal chemicals and messages that reach the brain to tell you to stop eating. They just feel ravenous all the time. If they are not supervised, these people CAN eat too much and their stomachs can tear, an emergency situation that can be deadly.

I am sure most of us have been told by our parents or friends at some stage, ‘Surely you can’t eat any more – you’ll burst!’ but I think in reality thats a VERY hard thing to do. 🙂
