Hi dragon1,
Hairs grow from hair follicles in your skin. Where hair grows is determined by your genes… and your species obviously!

I found it fascinating when I leaned that EVERY hair follicle has a tiny muscle attached to it (you can see it in the picture) and when it is cold this muscle contracts and that’s what makes out hair stand on end! 🙂
