Question: why can't cheetahs retract theres claws?

Keywords: , , ,

  1. Hi Treant,

Well, Cheetahs are designed for running, and just like spikes help footballers get traction on the ground, the claws probably help Cheetas too. I think that the ligaments and bones around the claws are similar to the other cats, but they don’t have the extra pieces of skin that cover over the claws in other cats. Because of this, the claws are always visible.

    🙂
